is BI necessary to Insight work?
No, BI is not necessary to make Cognos Insight work. on my local machine I am able to access my local TM1 server from Cognos Insight only if I launch it from TM1 applications page. If I launch Cognos Insight stand alone, and then try to connect it to the URL, it keeps on prompting me with invalid credentials message.
I got connected to the TM1 server, thaks for advice. But when I try to put a cube view to the workspace I got disconnected. Import data did not succeed too. I can't even google this error. =(
The issue was caused by incorrect MDX that somehow passed to work in Architect, TM1Web, Contributor. I corrected it and finaly got Insight display my cube view.

Glad to know that it's resolved. MDX bit is pretty interesting, maybe that's because Cognos Insight was expecting an MDX statement different than Architect/Contributor/Web?

Please help... I get the same error message... I can open my cubeview and move a few dimensions around, but then after a few minutes it starts to 'hang' and ultimately pops up with the "Error connecting to the Cognos TM1 server: Cognos insight will now close." message.
I am pretty new at TM1 administration, so could anyone please advise where I go to amend "incorrect MDX"? Assuming that my error message is caused by the same problem. Thanks!
