Xcelerator Client cannot connect on some pc

Hi

- Cognos Express 10.1 Xcelerator client
- CAM authentication (through AD)

We installed several client workstations. Some of them run properly. But on the others the logon page doesn't show (nothing happens after double-clicking on the TM1 server).

It works fine on the server itself and on one other computer.

I tried to open all ports without success. If I call the CAM url directly in IE it works fine.

Does anyone have an idea? I don't know in which direction I should investigate. It looks like when to TM1 servers are using the same port but I'm sure it is not and some client work fine. I don't use the default database directory but I re-installed the cxmd service to point to my new .cfg file. I downloaded the client setup .exe from the welcome page only once and reused it for every new installation.

I'm used to TM1 (13 years working on it and I can't remember having installation problems) but each new Cognos Express setup is full of surprises... :(

And by the way, does anyone knows why is Xcelerator Client so long to setup?

Thanks
Aude

Just as a starting point I would try and change it to Security Mode 1 and see if it connects that way.

I'm not a big fan of CAM security and don't use it very often but a random thought - is it the case that those PCs where it doesn't work are interpreting it as a blocked pop-up when you try to open the CAM logon screen?

From what I have seen I think that the installer executable for the Xcelerator Client connects to the Cognos Express server and retrieves a number of components from it, so if you are installing on a PC that exists at a considerable distance in network terms you will experience standard WAN lag.
A possible timesaver of course is to try disabling the virus scanner before running the install.

"change it to Security Mode 1 " : already done. Same behavior

But there is something new : in fact no client other than on the server itself can connect now. I didn't retry with the right one when the problem appears. I can't remember any change made to the server...

I have some other test :
re-install the cxmd service to use the native tm1s.cfg => not better
change the port in the tm1.cfg => not better
launch directly from tm1p.xla => not better

Any other idea?
Thanks
Aude

Can you see the CXMD service from the architect/perspectives server explorer?

I assume you have completely turned off the firewall and then checked the behaviour?

Yes I see the TM1 instance from perspectives server explorer.

I also tried to turn off the firewall.

I'm out of ideas..

ok I got it : 2 IP address.

I just add the parameter to the tm1s.cfg file and it works fine now!

For information you can check the IP address used by tm1 admin server in the tm1admsrv.log. And here is a link that can help http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.w ... wg21592968
