I have defined picklists(Dimension PickList) for two elements in a dimension. The problem i am facing is that , in contributor when i log with clients , i am not able to see the elements in the drop down for those two elemenst. when i log into contributor with Admin log to access the any of the planner nodes, i am able to see the elements in the dropdown.

Kindly help on this.

Thanks in advance.

How have you defined the picklists? It would help if you posted the exact definition strings you are using.

Does this functionality work correctly in Architect or Excel or TM1Web for those clients?

Yeah the picklist has been defined. Its not available even in Architect for any of the groups. It is available for the Admin user but not for any other groups.

As I said it would be helpful if you were to post the strings that define the picklists. Are they for instance "static:", "dimension:" or "subset:" style definitions?

I have defined Dimension Picklist and i have give Write access to the dimensionsa and elements of the dimension for the groups concerned.

These are the PickList defined.

Dimension:3 Branch
Dimension:4 Training_Type

Two more questions :-

1. If one of the clients opens one of these dimension in Architect does that client see the elements?

2. In the cube is there an empty drop-down or is there no drop-down at all?

1. When any of the clients access the dimension in the Architect, the clients are able to see the elements fo the dimension.

2. In Architect, even drop dwon is not appearing but in Contributor an empty drop down is coming.

So in Architect where there is no drop-down if they type rubbish in the cell is it rejected or accepted? If they type a dimension item is it also rejected or is it accepted?

Whatever i type its accepting, even though the elements for which Picklist are defined as String elements. Its even taking the numeric values.

A wild stab in the dark would be that you haven't given said individuals access to the dimension on which the picklist is based.

Give all users access to the dimensions "3 Branch" and "4_training type" then watch all your problems disappear.

If an admin user can do something whereas other users can't its a pretty safe bet to say you should at least start by looking at all the relevant security.

What happens if you change the Picklist to a static picklist? Are users able to see the defined elements?

What happens if you change the Picklist to a Subset based picklist? Are users able to see the defined elements?

Can you screenshot your attributes dialog so we can see the name of the attribute and how you've setup the PickList string?

I have tried all the three types of Picklist. irrespective of the type of picklists, the result is same.
Even i have tried defining the picklist in the Picklist_cube.

Could it be that the users don't have access to the picklist attribute? Ie, do they have read access to the element "PickList" of the dimension "}ElementAttributes_1 CLP Requirement"?

This is a guess but it sure sounds like your problem is down to security.

I have checked that as well.. The group to which user belongs to has "Write" access to PickList and Format items of the "}ElementAttributes_1 CLP Requirement cube.

I am stuck in the same issue and its really frustrating.

I would have to agree with this assumption due to the fact that it works for Admin users. Perhaps try going through the security one step and a time and changing each thing to Admin rather than read/write and see if your users are then able to see the picklist.

Another possibility all be it quite a long shot is to try putting a picklist on another element in the same dim, perhaps on the "Cost Level" measure, like I say its a long shot and TM1 actually does seem to handle most element names very well but I do try and avoid characters such as * when creating element names.

I noticed the trailing "*" so I actually tested it here. FWIW it worked as expected.

As well as trying on different elements within that dimension, what if you try on a different dimension? I mean can you get any picklists to work at all for all users?

When the users are provided with the Admin rights to the elements they are able to view the picklist. Also i have tried assigning the picklist for another element in the same dimension, say i have tried it on 'remarks ' element. I mentioned in one of my comments that the same issue i am facing in other applications as well i.e wherever i have defined picklist, i am facing issues in accessing the picklists while logging via any of the clients.
