TM1 Forum

Hi all,

We have recently bought and implemented TM1 in our company (9.5.1, planning on 9.5.2 upgrade shortly). Thus far it is more than satisfactory, but since last week we're having trouble slicing from perspectives. Symptoms:

• When i open Perspectives from the start menu i get the error message "Windows cannot find 'D:\TM1\TM1Software\bin\tm1p.xla' <...>". Of course i checked the location and yes, it's there. If i go to specified location and run the .xla directly from that location there's no error whatsoever.
  
  When i try to do a slice i get the message "view slice in progress...please wait" and then - nothing. Only an issue when i try this on the server through a remote desktop connection or citrix. Local clients seem to be fine however, the moment i close Excel, the slice appears, and seemingly ok.

Yes, i am a noob, so forgive me if this is a 'common' issue...i searched the nets, but couldn't find any solution so far.

Any suggestions?

The usual cause of that is that in the Excel options, the "Ignore Other Applications" box is checked.

It was indeed checked. I unchecked it and slice came up perfectly!

We have the same issue of slicing hanging the Excel session despite unchecking "Ignore Other Applications" box in Excel. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Our TM1 and Excel versions are:
TM1 Perspective version in Citrix: 9.5.1
TM1 Server version: 9.5.1
Excel version: Excel 2003 (11.6560.6568) SP2

Some observations are:
- Slicing works 100% fine with TM1 Perspective on user's Local machine.
- Slicing in Citrix issue is intermittent - it sometimes works and sometimes doesnt. Some users seem to have more success with Slicing in Citrix than others.
- When it hangs we can see that numbers are actually exported to a new worksheet in the background, but cube viewer doesnt seem to release the control and hence hangs excel session. See attached a screenshot.
- Slicing works 100% fine for all users in a separate TEST Citrix box even though it doesnt work in the produciton Citrix boxes. We asked IT whats different in the test Citrix box - the response was they are identical. Instead IT have asked for specific things that need comparing between these two boxes. Would be great if you could recommend what excactly needs comparing in this scenario.
