Downloaded 9.5.0 - Where is the .exe file?

We currently have TM1 version 9.0 SP3. This is our first update of Cognos/TM1. After discussing with IT, he decided it would be faster if he downloaded from his home machine, and copy to the TM1 server. When the download finished, there were two options with the Download Manager - Setup or Help. He didn't want to click on Setup, as that would have probably installed TM1 on his home computer. He has copied all of the .tar.gz and .zip files to the target server. How do we initiate setup? Thank you for you time.

It sounds like he downloaded "Download Manager" instead of TM1. TM1 comes in one single zip file. Download Manager is an app that IBM wants to put on your machine to control the downloads of software from their FTP site. You need to install Download Manager and from there you can download the TM1 zip file.

I'm reading the Installation Guide for 9.5, and on page 16, it states "Locate and run the setup.exe file". There is a setup.exe in each of the following zip files:

CZD7FML.zip - I think this is the 64-bit version, so I'm inclined to say this is not the one.

CZA2RML.zip

CZA2SML.zip

CZD7EML.zip

I don't think he downloaded just the Download Manager - the directory where all of the zip and tar.gz files are stored is 2.37 GB. Thanks for your input though!

You will have to Unzip/Extract the *.tar.gz or *.zip files into seperate folders.

I am assuming that you are doing a Windows Install of TM1 version 9.5.0. Depending upon the type of install (32-bit or 64-bit) you will one of the following files.

IBM Cognos TM1 64-Bit V9.5.0 Windows Multilingual(CZD7FML)
IBM Cognos TM1 32-Bit V9.5.0 Windows Multilingual(CZD7EML)

See the attached screen shot for details

Thank you for your reply. I'll pass it along to IT and I think we should be good to go.

Hi Richard - I would certainly hope that you have at least downloaded 9.5.1 and not 9.5.0. The first 9.5 release was a little rushed, the .1 is much improved.

Thanks for the tip. Our VAR agrees. IT tried to download 9.5.1 three times last night, but it stalled every time. He checked his connection, and it was working fine. Has any one else had issues with downloading? Thanks again for your feedback.

No and never had any issues with downloading stuff from IBM website. You better check the 'issues' with your IT  :P

I had issues when trying to use Download manager, which is why I never even try to use it any longer. Somewhere in there is the option to download via a good old fashioned and reliable HTML link, which is what I always use. However you also need to ensure that you have an adequate connection to download it through. Given the size of the files, I'd be wary of downloading them at home given that our domestic internet connections down here aren't called "fraudband" for nothing. It's never a problem at work where the connection is deep and wide, though.
