Executive Viewer - Popular or not?

Hello,
as I am getting into TM1 I would be interested in your opinion whether or not Executive viewer is heavily used by customers.
When I look at the GUI I would say there is nothing it can what Excel can not, maybe it looks a bit nicer.
Any experience on how often customer use this tool and about the advantages would be appreciated!
