Executive Viewer - Popular or not?

Hello,
as I am getting into TM1 I would be interested in your opinion whether or not Executive viewer is heavily used by customers.
When I look at the GUI I would say there is nothing it can what Excel can not, maybe it looks a bit nicer.
Any experience on how often customer use this tool and about the advantages would be appreciated!

We have found users slow to adopt it over straight TM1, but we use it heavily on our corporate portal and dashboards. We display its content through SharePoint.
