MTQ - TM1 server crashes

Hi All,

I was trying to enable MTQ functionality. We are having two virtual processors so added MTQ=2 in tm1s.cfg file.

OpsConsole shows it is working as per below screenshot
Ops Console.png

Resource Monitor shows CPU Usage of 100%, seems to be positive

But the server crashes after few minutes.
I have checked the Event Viewer to get the Event ID and it is 7034 which says server crashed unexpectedly.

When I have went through the IBM PMR,s came across one PMR as in below link.
http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.w ... wg1PI08600

If we set MTQ=1, we have only one core working as per screenshots below

Oops, three is the maximum attachment we can have in a post.

If I see the ops console with MTQ = 1, it doesn't have "> Work Unit for 600". Where 600 represents the ID, it can vary based on the process triggered.

The server is crashing because it is using all the cores available?
Can someone please share their knowledge and correct me if anything wrong done?

Hi All,

To the issue I shared, it is always good not to use all the cores available.
We have increased cores from 2 to 4 and now when we had MTQ = 2 in tm1s.cfg file it is working perfectly fine.

Will be sharing if any other information I get in future why it was crashing when we are utilizing all the cores available.
If any of my friends have idea on that please share.

Always leave at least 1 (or a few more) cores available for background processes and other users & applications. Otherwise MTQ could completely stall the system on a big query.

Also be wary of the TM1 version. MTQ seems pretty stable in 10.2.2 but from my experience testing 10.2.1 MTQ was gauranteed to cause a server crash if anything else was triggered at the same time as a view was running with MTQ.
