PAW view settings question

Post by jules22 »

Hi,
we are currently planning to change to PAW from the legacy tools and encountered some challenges concerning view settings in PAW while testing.
I tried to find answers to my questions but some are remaining.
This is my first post and I didn't want to spam, so I consolidate the questions here. If that's not ok, just tell me.

1. View options
You have these view settings in PAW in the upper right corner where you can add iconography, context information, section headers, etc.
Is there a way to store these settings?
As currently I have to set my checks in each and every cube I open and each time I reopen the cube. Just the iconography seems to be a default setting.
In line with that, is there an option to save the cube view format?

2. Icon legend
Is there some kind of icon legend for the different kinds of views? We have several different icons in front of our views, but can just guess what they mean.

3. Compatibility
Is it correct that (legacy) views that were once saved in PAW are not available in architect any more?

4. Default views
As we have German users, our default views are currently all named as "Standard". From what I read and encountered this naming convention doesn't work in PAW any more and we need to rename all our default views to "Default" (with capital D). Is that correct?

Thank you in advance and sorry for these noob questions.

Hello,

A first feedback regarding the questions.

1. At least in IBM PAoC, Planning Analytics on Cloud, you can set and save settings for various areas. See the screenshot of the workbench with the options on the left hand side.

settings.PNG (80.92 KiB) Viewed 2249 times
2. I started one but did not finish yet. It would be good if you can extend the list. See attached Word doc.
PAW - Views and subsets icons.docx

3. Not in the user interface. You could still work with them through TI processes.
When you save a native view in Architect, it becomes a *.vue file in the folder "cubename}vues" of the TM1 data directory. When you access the view in PAW and want to overwrite it, you will be told in a message box that a native view with that name already exists. When you choose to overwrite, the vue extension becomes xbv (expression based view) since you now have an MDX view instead of a native view. Refreshing the Server Explorer in Architect removes the view, indeed. The control dimension }Views_cubename still shows the public view name.

4. Yes, rename. I hadn't paid attention to it but in the past we had such users too, with different language settings.

Hi Wim,

thanks a lot for your answer. That helps a lot!
My remaining question would be:
Is there also a setting or maybe config where I can set the default data format?
