IBM Cognos TM1 Executive Viewer 9.4 Installation

Post by Handls »

Hello All,

I am currently struggling to install IBM Cognos TM1 Executive Viewer TM1 version 9.4. I am trying to install the software on a server running Microsoft Windows 2008 r2. (64 bit) When I attempt to install the software I am receiving the following error

"IBM Cognos TM1 Executive Viewer requires .NET Framework Version 2 to be installed on your system. Please correct and run setup again." (see attachment)

I have checked and .NET Framework 3.5.1 is installed; it is my understanding .NET Framework 2 is part of 3.5.1

I am not sure if anyone else has seen this error when installing the software?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Sue

Not exactly; each version of the .Net Framework is independent and can run in parallel so that Microsoft isn't shackled to legacy code. However it is my understanding that the 3.5.1 install package also adds 2.0.

Just out of curiosity, if you go to the Start menu and type RegEdit in the box, then navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\NET Framework Setup\NDP, which versions are shown as being installed?

Hi Alan,

Thanks for the response. I have typed the command you suggested and the following versions are listed under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\NET Framework Setup\NDP

CDF
v2.0.50727
v3.0
v3.5
v4
v4.0

I have attached a screen shot of the entries

Thanks
Sue

That seems OK; I would however go to Server Manager (right click on Computer in the Start menu and select Manage then go to Features) and just make sure that it hasn't been turned off:

If that's not the case, there is a .Net Framework checking tool that I'm aware of, which can be found here. Unlike many in Microsoft these days (especially those in the MS Office team) the author, Aaron Stebner, actually has a clue about what he's doing.

If none of that works, then I'm afraid your options narrow considerably because IBM has effectively dumped EV, or more precisely has flogged it off to a third party called Cubus. But even if they hadn't, support for EV 9.4 ended on 30-Sep-13. So even if you're on support... not for that version you won't be.
