Hi guys,
i am experimenting a business scenario and have created a few dimensions and a cube to test the security. I want to hide a particular element from the user. So I went to Dimension > Element Level Security and set the access rights to NONE for element & group combination. But when I access the cube using the test user which is part of the group I have set the access to NONE, I can still see and edit the values for that particular element. Am I doing something incorrect? Or maybe missing something?
Thanks
Kaz

Hello
You don't have CellSecurity implemented ?
Can you show us a screenshot of the box when you do "Who am I" on the TM1 server name in Perspectives or Architect ?

Re: Element level security not working
HI Wim,
I think the NONE element security setting is not overwritten with a WRITE cell security setting. At least I am using this property quite often that once NONE is set on element level, we do not have to care about that on cell level.

Re: Element level security not working
Hi Wim,
Here are the screen shots of Who Am I result and the server side user & group as well. These confirm that we are looking at the correct user groups.
For the cell security bit, I wouldn't imagine that I'll have to create a cell security cube just to hide a single element of dimension? I mean, wouldn't we use cell security to hide a specific combination of elements across all dimensions?
Thanks
Kaz

Re: Element level security not working
Can you post screen which shows,
I could be wrong, however my suspect is that, Cognosuser5 is also mapped to "EveryOne" group; which must have higher permission.
- The groups Cognosuser5 belongs to?
- Those groups' rights on the dimension in questions?

Check out my blog for some good information on TM1, SPSS

Hi Sachin,
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. It was not the 'Everyone' group but another group that was causing the grief. Thanks.
