TM1 10.2.2 - Analysis Service Dimension

All,

We are designing a new TM1 Model in 10.2.2, for most of the TM1 objects there is a corresponding object with an extension Analysis Services Dimension in the data base directory. Here I have attached the screen shot, Any pointers what these objects are and how are they created ..?

Any pointers in terms of maintenance.

I think the problem is that you have Microsoft Analysis services installed as past of SQL server. This is picking up the file association from the .dim file. Right click on the file and select "Open With..." then select another application that you want to open the file with. Personally, I open nearly all my TM1 objects with Notepad++, even the binary objects like dimensions and cubes as you can get insights by opening with a text viewer. Make sure you select an application that does not lock the file when opening...
