TM1 on Microsoft Hyper-V

Post by chewza »

Hi there

Anyone know if TM1 is supported on MS Hyper-V as a virtual environment? My question relates to Tm1 Server as well as perspectives, but am most interested in whether perspectives is supported.

Many thanks!

Officially IBM doesn't "support" any virtualization platforms per se, it is the OS that the TM1 server or client is running on that is supported or not.

I've not installed it on Hyper-V but I have (as lotsaram said) been able to get it working on server 2008 on Oracle Virtual Box. I've also used microsofts old virtual machine without a problem.

Have a client working on Microsoft Application Virtualization (also known as App-V) and TM1 works like a charm.

Hi

I am trying to sequence IBM Cognos TM1 9.5.1 using App-V 5.0. I have merged all possible folders under VFS (Package Files), I have also ticked Allow all named objects to interact with the local system and Allow all COM objects to interact with the local system on advanced tab of App-V .

But I still get below error message when I launch my TM1

Run-time error '429': ActiveX component can't create object.

I have got preinstalled MS Office 2010 Professional Plus i.e. Word, Excel and PowerPoint. (I have also tried add Access 2010)

How do I resolve this issue???

Any help will be highly appreciated.

Office 2010 is not supported under TM1 9.5.1; you need 9.5.2 at least. Probably won't solve your issue but will likley cause a problem if you try and get support from IBM.

But I have tried the native install and it works fine with office 2010 and Office 2007 both. Only App-V package is giving issue. Not only I tried the AppV package with office 2007 and I get the same error there too.

My apology for few wrong information above.

I would like to correct myself.

I have retested the native install and App-V install both with Office 2007 and Office 2010 both every time I launch the Perspective for MS Excel from start menu, I get attached error message. i.e.

Run-time error '429':
ActiveX component can't create object

Command line I am using to install the application is as below

"%~dp0setup.exe" /l1033 /v"INSTALLLEVEL=0 ADDLOCAL=TM1Client,TM1_OLEDB_Provider,Perspectives,PDFCamp PRODUCTCHOSEN=TM1P EXCELEDITINCELL=True TM1AUTOLOAD=False EXCELTOOLSVRHOST=tm1 TM1LANGSTRING=ENG CLIENTLOGIN=F TM1CLIENTADMHOST=tm1 /qn"

Your help will be highly appreciated.

Thanks with regards

The Install Guide specifies some software prerequistites to be installed - one of them being the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable Package. Could it be that this component is missing?

I found the article which shows that this is known issue as below

http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.w ... 1371&aid=1

re register the dll n ocx and got it going. But still could get the AppV application going. Finally packaged the software as native.
