After installing the Xcelerator client on Vista Excel 2007, connecting to the TM1 Server causes Excel to run extremely slowly.
Moving from cell to cell takes 1/2 a second.
The client residing on the server is performing fine, as is TM1 Web accessed from a client machine.
I have installed the latest fixpack 1 for CE and have installed SP2 for Excel.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Dan

Re: Cognos Express Xcelerator Performance Issue
Update: Architect is absolutely fine. Server Explorer through Excel is the only issue.

Re: Cognos Express Xcelerator Performance Issue
Hi Dan,
There is a problem with the TM1 ribbon in Excel 2007 slowing down Perspectives. If you switch of the ribbon I assume performance will be better.
You can do a search on Ribbon on the forum to find more info on this.

Re: Cognos Express Xcelerator Performance Issue
If I disable the ribbon by renaming it, is there an easy way to allow users to connect to the TM1 Server etc without having to create my own add-in?

You should not need to create your own add-in. When the TM1 ribbon tab is disabled all of the Excel 2003 TM1 toolbar buttons/menus will appear on the AddIns ribbon tab in Excel 2007. As long as you instruct your users to look there, they'll have all the same buttons/commands that they had on the ribbon. Not ideal, but it works (without the lag you saw with the ribbon loaded).

Mike

Re: Cognos Express Xcelerator Performance Issue
If I deactivate the TM1 ribbon, the TM1 ribbon disappears but I have no Add-Ins ribbon.
If I then open another add-in (as in the 2nd screenshot), the Add-ins ribbon appears, however there is no TM1 menu in the Add-in.

Dan:
I'm confused by your screenshot. You say the ribbon is disabled, but I still see a TM1 tab there. How are you disabling the TM1 ribbon add-in? Typically I just rename the tm1pRibbonX.xlam file so that TM1 won't be able to find it when loading TM1P.XLA in Excel. If the TM1P.XLA add-in can't find the ribbon add-in (tm1pRibbonX.xlam), that is when it populates various items on the Add-Ins tab (assuming macros are enabled and all that).

Mike
