Another Feeder Question

Post by AnthonyT »

Apologies if this a basic question

Which below scenario would be "better"?

Scenario A:
One cell in cube A, used to calculate 10 in Cube B, which in turn are used to calculate 10 in Cube C

Or....

Scenario B:
One cell in cube A, used to calculate 100 in Cube C

Thanks
Anthony

Good morning Anthony!
If you want to see the values in cube B adding up or showing in a 0-suppressed view, you need to ensure they are fed.
If not, I don't think there's much difference between the two approaches.
But you will recall that you can save a bit by 'skipping over' intermediate calculations and just feeding the result.

Hi David

Thanks for the reply - hope things are well?

Cube 2 is being used as a staging area, so that some metrics can be expanded to fill the reporting dates. Cube 3 then uses these values by date, and applies them to another dimension.

I was thinking of doing away with Cube 2, thus reducing one lot of rules and one lot of feeders. Cube 3 is already being fed by Cube 1 anyway.

Thanks again
Anthony
