Hi All,
I am trying to publish TM1 cube on cognos server.
I have issues with levels displayed.
I have one element at consolidation level, one column as element and I have used unique identifiers are attribute
eg:
Column name PRNT_GEO_NM (EUROPE) (Consolidation )
Column name GEO_AREA_NM (Belgium)(Element)
and the GEO_AREA_ID (333) (Attribute used as alias)
The issue is whenever I drill from Europe in cognos connection,I see the numbers in like 333 instead of Country names (Belgium)...
I have explained everything in detail in the document attached.
please advice me on this..
Thanks,
Sudheen

Sorry I couldn't read your attachment, so this reply might not be correct. I don't know what format the attachment was in, but it didn't seem to be a word document.
I would guess that you just need to turn off Aliases in the subset editor to get the country names to show instead of the numbers.
However, it would probably be better practice to use the number for the element name, and the country name as the Alias. If you do decide to go down that route I would prefix the number with a letter eg G for Geography so you have G_333, as this will then prevent Excel from confusing 333 with number 333 which could occur in data, or in another dimension (you can still get the same problem even if you use 333 as an Alias). It also makes it easier to work out which dimension 333 relates to when in the View Editor.
Some advantages of using a code for the element name are that:
1) It gives a degree of independence, eg they might decide to use 333 to mean Benelux in future, rather than just Belgium
2) Some might prefer to see the french name eg Belgique rather than Belgium

Re: TM1 hierarchies pl help
Thanks Paul.
Your advice really helped me and now I have the proper levels for the cube
I have one more issues with using TM1 cubes for cognos BI reporting.
This is what I have observed till now whenever I publish the TM1 cubes on cognos server
Once the cube is developed and publish on cognos connection (After defining proper levels for the dimensions),the cube looks good for cognos BI reporting only till the time I restart the TM1 admin server.
I mean, whenever I restart the TM1 server the levels for the same cube gets disturbed.(even though I don't make any changes to the cube)
I only see top level for the dimensions and rest disappears.
I am wondering what is that I have missed.
After I publish the cube,I save everything and then exit, but the issue still persists.
This issue seems resloved once I recreate the cube and ever encountered this type of issue pl help me on .ever encountered this type of issue pl help me on this.
Thanks in advance.

Glad I could help a bit.
Unfortunately I have never used Cognos BI Reporting with TM1 so I can't help any further. Hopefully someone else, can but you are on fairly new ground.
Are you using Cognos Express, or just connecting to TM1 using Cognos Reporting Suite? It seems that the problem is on the Cognos BI side rather than TM1.
