IS TM1 Very Costly...??

Post by Tm1andTm1 »

There is a Cement company in India, Purchased TM1 3years back. The implementation cost incurred 3 time as it was estimated and quoted.
Even than they are not getting desired results.
Now after implementation they are suppose to spend 120,000 USD for support every year.

My question: Is TM1 that much costly or something went wrong on implementation.

How long is a piece of string?

Depends what software installation is required - how many users? how many servers? how many PVUs on the server/s? Cognos Express or Cognos TM1?

Also depends on what is being built and how - who is building it (in house or consultants)? Cheap consultants or good consultants (note expensive consultants who are good can often do it quicker and therefore cost less than the cheap ones)?

Thanks Declan,

So it mainly depends on the level of experience of consultants. All the 8 consultants had never heard about TM1 before(They were EP Consultants), and they have change the design not less than 10 times.
But still design requires all 8 consultants as on support.

TM1 ranks right up there in the scale of how important experience is in relation to cost and quality of implementation. As a matter of fact, I would rank experience as THE most important factor when hiring an outside firm to help you with your implementation, even MORE important than cost. Sorry ex-EP people, EP is not TM1 and while experience with EP can indicate the capacity to be able to understand TM1, it is not TM1. I would NEVER hire an implementation team that didn't have at least one member that had at least 5 years or more working with TM1.
