Can I install TM1 Architect on Linux desktop?

Post by abcuser »

Hi,
Cognos TM1 10.1.1 is installed server.

On official IBM web page: http://pic.dhe.ibm.com/infocenter/cbi/v ... linux.html
it is written

Code: Select all

To view and interact with the data stored in a Cognos TM1 server running on a UNIX system, use one of the Cognos TM1 clients on a computer running Microsoft Windows.

Tip: You can use Cognos TM1 Architect on a computer running Microsoft Windows to remotely log into a server running on a UNIX system.
But has anyone tried installing client Cognos TM1 Architect on Linux (like Ubuntu 12.04 desktop)? This is the only software I am currently forced to use Windows in virtual machine and would like to get rid of if possible.

This probably means installing it using Wine. Are there any step-by-steps instructions (specially if some tips are required) how to install it?
Regards

I'm not 100% up to date with the installs, but as far as I am aware you can only install the server components on Linux. If you move to 10.2 you should be able to install the web components as well. As for Architect without running some kind of windows emulation you might be out of luck. But as I said I'm not 100% up to date with the installations so I could be wrong,

All the client installs are Windows only. However, there are a number of apps out for Linux that will let you install and run Windows apps without running a complete Windows emulation. Just Google "Running Windows Apps under Linux". There are several apps and even YouTube videos showing you how. I've never tried any of them so YMMV.
