"DBS" replacement in CAFÉ

Hi,

I haven't had time to play with CAFÉ yet; I'm wondering whether there is any replacement of the DBS functionality there. I have seen a few online demos and understand you can directly plan in views in CAFÉ - inculding data spread - but do you have the option to upload huge amounts of external data from Excel files with some formulas like DBS in Perspectives?

We have some installations where WAN is a problem with Perspectives but at the same time we have lot of 'offline' users who send their contribution to the central Controlling department in Excel sheets and then the Controlling sends this data with DBS formulas to the cubes.

Thanks
Matyas

There are no formulas for CAFE like perspectives. (You can use excel formulas inside of the views to send data back.) Possibly that method would work for you? Also the views don't commit data back unless you click on a commit button. Therefore you can use excel in auto calc and not have the delay you had with perspectives. Although im not sure what the write back performance would be with a large view. I would imagine better than perspectives. The real issue is that being forced into views for read write instead of cell based formulas does create some limitations.
