I created a cube view in TM1 9.4 that has 97 000 rows. I wanted to slice this view to excel 2007 but came back with an error saying that the maximum number of rows exceeded. the rows will be truncated. Has anyone come across this or is there a away of getting around this.

Just wanted to take something out of play. Are you doing the slice from perspectives or the web? We hit a similar issue, but it was caused from web and excel 2003 still being installed on the server.

I am using Perspectives. This happens whenever you create a snapshot, slice or Active form that contains more than 65536 rows (The previous limit in excel 2003). It says "Excel cannot complete the task with available resources. Choose less data or close other applications". When you choose ok. Another error message from TM1 comes up saying "TM1 is out of memory". Was the problem you had similar?

Just ran a few quick tests. The slice in Excel 2007 to over 65k rows is definitely not working correctly.

Elements on ROWS seem to 'stop' at the Excel 2003 limit, and on huge slices the DBRW formulas appear to be incorrect (I had no cube reference!).

I've had no issues where slicing within the 65k limit in Excel 2007.

I also do not encounter the problem when the rows are less than 65k. Has anyone managed to figure this one out?

Why do you have the requirement to create > 65,000 rows (or browse a view of that size for that matter ...)?

It is probable that the code to execute the slice and snapshot routines were designed for Excel pre 2007 and presumably haven't been updated to accommodate 1 million rows.

I'd generally tend to agree with you Incognito, however there are likely to be plenty of reasons as to why someone might require this. Lets not forget there are instances of TM1 models that contain over 2 million elements in the 1 dimension (not all TM1 models are accounting based). Everyone at one stage or another has pushed out all elements in a large dimension for some kind of testing/reconciliation....
