My company has decided to purchase Cognos Express 10.1 as we are upgrading from Cognos Enterprise TM1 9.1.4. What are your thoughts about Express?

Bit of an open ended question and you will see Cognos Express discussed in a lot of detail in other threads on the forum.

But my general view is that if you go for the Xcelerator component you will be getting TM1 Perspectives & TM1 Web just limited by the amount of users. There are obviously other constraints imposed for CX but if you are upgrading from TM1 9.1 I doubt you will suffer much from any of them. The engine is just TM1 and as long as the amount of users is small enough I would find it hard to come up with a reason to choose TM1 over CX in the majority of those situations (not all but most.)

Cheap TM1 with more complicated install\user admin and cut down BI reporting (I flunked the IBM copyrighting course ;-0 ).

What are you using it for? Provided you are under user limit (total 100 users of which max 50 can be read\write contributors) and PVU limit (now 560), don't need integration with Enterpise BI\Controller or the SAP connector or replication between servers, then will be fine.

Also, although we don't normally push customers to go the latest release may be worth considering CX 10.2 It includes nice features such as MTQ, off-line contribution, much faster TM1 Web etc.

I wouldn't have said the install was more complicated, it may be longer in duration but I'd say it's easier especially if you decide to use AD authentication.
