Cognos Express 10.2 is out today. Depending on your support agreement you may not be able to download it yourself (contact you IBM partner in this case). But this is an upgrade worth having.

Good points:
• Windows 8 / Server 2012 support.
• Cognos Scorecarding
• Ability to run TI from cmd line
• TM1 Top is now replaced by IBM Cognos Analytic Server Operations Console.
• Ipad App

But some deprecated features that maybe an issue for you:
• No Advisor and Data Advisor
• Tm1 portlets replaced by widgets

There is still no office/Excel 2013 support

One point of clarification - Advisor and Data Advisor is not gone (yet) - CX 10.2.1 is, however, the last release where it will be available. Only the following items are totally gone in CX 10.2.1: TM1TOP (Ops Console is now included), TM1 Portlets (as you'd noted), and TM1 Workflow. Still a potential concern, for sure, but didn't want anyone get the impression that Advisor/Data Advisor wasn't in CX 10.2.1.

I will say I'm very happy that I no longer have to refer to TM1 as Xcelerator and BI as Reporter, and in addition to the other things you mentioned it's also nice to have Analysis Services finally supported as a data source in Express.

The version number was a head scratcher, though - they seemed to have roughly averaged several product versions (BI 10.2.1.1, TM1 10.2.0, Insight 10.2.1, etc) to come up with 10.2.1. Part of me is still thinking this is a RP1 and that there's a CX 10.2 release out there that I must have missed!

Thanks for the clarification on Advisor. I know it unofficially been on the way out for a while but this is the first time I have seen something in writing.
Should have been more specific, was really trying to indicate to my Advisor users that they need to start thinking of an exit strategy/stop investing in developing reports in this space.

Does anybody know if Express 10.2.1 supports MTQ - Multithreaded Query ?

Express 10.2.1 bundles TM1 10.2 and TM1 10.2 supports MTQ (Multi-Threaded Query support).
But I could not find in Express documentation stating it supports MTQ.

I was in a meeting with IBM last week and asked this very question. His response was it does support MTQ.

Cognos Express 10.2.1 Fix Pack 1 is now available on IBM Fix Central.

Hi Marco,
Have you faced any issues with Tm1 10.2.1 FP1
We installed Fp1 and hotfix after that and facing some issues related to Tm1 web.
- Dynamic Subset names are not appearing on Tm1 web.
- Data is gone from tm1 web application view , however its present in cube view.

Please let us know if you also faced any issues/challenges after installing Fp1.

Hi,

We don't experience any issues with TM1Web, but we mainly use it for data input for Planning & Forecast applications. Maybe you can try the latest Fix Pack 2.
