Hi,

In the TM1.cfg file, there is a parameter "Databasedirectory". We can put multiple folders e.g. DatabaseDirectory="c:\tm1dims;c:\tm1cubes".

For testing I created different TM1 instances where I have used different 2/3/6 numbers of folders to pick up the objects from. Each time in the Perspective it shows all the TM1 objects like dimensions/cubes/TI from the selected folders.

Regarding this parameter, I have a few questions -
1. is there a limit for the number of folders that can be mapped as part of the DatabaseDirectory parameter?
2. is there a limit on the length of the folder names?
3. is there a limit on the length of string being set as the parameter?
4. is it that the length of the folder names have to be the same length?

I faced an issue when I tried this the 1st time. The folder names were as follows -
c:\data
c:\dim
c:\cubes

and in the TM1s.cfg the parameter was DatabaseDirectory="c:\data;c:\dim;c:\cubes"

When I ran the shortcut for this server, in the database window that opened up it showed as path as DatabaseDirectory=c:\data;c:\dima;c:\cubes

For some reason it had added an additional “a” to the 2nd folder “dim” name. I assume it expects the folder names to be of same length. But not sure if this understand is right.

Has anyone else used this multiple folder option? Any issues faced? Any other experience while using this parameter?

Sorry, no answers to your questions as I've never used this ability. I guess that if there was a limit, it would merely be a maximum of 256 characters. I would guess 1,2,4 would all be "no".

I was just curious to know, however, why you're doing it this way? I can't see any benefit in having multiple data directories rather than a single one?
