iphone/Android data input anybody?

Post by theblackdawn »

Referring to the post http://www.tm1forum.com/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=9142, I could understand that it is more for a notification purpose and server monitoring and crashing. Please correct me if I'm wrong
I would like to know if there is any feature, similar to the one mentioned in the post where someone can manually enter/input data into any such mobile devices so that it gets reflected into the TM1 application.
Appreciate any suggestions.

The link you've posted is for a server monitoring tool. It has nothing to do with entering data. As for entering data on android I guess you could see if TM1 Web works on android. If not you might be out of luck unless somebody has written something for it. As the posts you put on the link aren't really needed I have removed them,

A TM1 Web server can be accessed via an iPhone (using Safari). I did it just for kicks and grins about a year ago. Of course, this is assuming your TM1 Web server is accessible from the internet. In my case I had it running on an Amazon Cloud Server instance. I was able to log in and browse a cube, etc., everything you can do via IE or Chrome. Obviously, you have to be using native TM1 security since there is not going to be any Active Directory connectivity to authenticate to.

It's not really very practical because TM1 Web was not designed for the mobile platform. The icons are way too small and it was almost impossible to navigate around. It might have been a little better on an iPad but at the time I didn't have one. Like I said, it was more just for fun and to see if I could do it.

IBM Cognos Active Report allows you to view reports via mobile... This is Cognos BI, but you can integrate TM1 with Cognos BI. As far as entering data, I have no idea, so I guess this doesn't really answer your question.

Cognos BI as far as I am aware is read only, unless you're accessing TM1 Web views through it which kind of takes us back to the first point. I know there is also a Cognos Insight app available for the iPad but this is also read only,

Well. Thanks for all the replies. I should then try with TM1 web and can imagine how tough it could be to navigate.
The reason I was asking for, is that we need to enter some data onto a mobile device only (no other go) and the data should get reflected into the TM1 application - irrespective of accessing TM1 on the device or not.
I was also thinking about having some (normal) spreadsheets on a Windows-based mobile device, hving entering data, but felt it was not worth it to have the spreadsheets back again to connect/upload/download to a system and create TI process and import the data entered into TM1 application.

I'm pretty sure that Cubeware BI app will do write back from a mobile device.

I would use kendoui to Load Data into a RDBMS and then use T1 with Chore to load into TM1. Cheap as and you could get some very good guys to the kendoui bit.

Cubeware BI app ?
