Hi,
I'm getting a "TM1 Version is incompatible" error when trying to connect to an instance after upgrading recently. I checked steps to resolve this issue using this link
http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.w ... wg21588340
I've attached a screenshot of the tm1s.exe and tm1a.exe to see the client and server properties - they match. I've also tried using the ClientVersionMaximum=10.1.10100 parameter to match this version but then I get the error "User does not have permission to browse the selected server" - and I've googled that error too without to much success.
I have the correct username and pwd (and I've also tried removing a particular cube that results in all passwords being removed...) but this hasn't worked either.
I did a complete uninstall and reinstall of TM1 and then upgrade with "up_plananalytics_winx64h_10.1.7000.528" and have selected to install the client and server components (and I'm running architect on the TM1 server itself when I get this error).
Any suggestions would be much appreciated, thanks.

Re: TM1 Version is Incompatible
I'm guessing you've done this but check that the client app you are launching is the one you think you are in case the install path changed and you are using an old shortcut? Same for the server side software.
Not very helpful but its worth closing off the obvious user error stuff if you've checked the technical side...
Maybe its complaining that the TM1 Architect is not compatible with the OS you've installed it on rather than the server?

Re: TM1 Version is Incompatible
Hi guys,
No, unfortunately it's still a problem. I'm trying to restore other TM1 instances to see what the difference is but to answer Steve's question:
I am not using a shortcut, I'm actually navigating directly to the C:\Program Files\ibm\cognos\tm1_64\bin\tm1a.exe file to run this to make sure I'm using the correct executable. This was installed at the time I reinstalled TM1 which was an installation of server and client components so I don't see how the server and client can be out of sync?
This version of TM1 is a windows version and it's running on servers at the clients site (same file versions for tm1s.exe and tm1a.exe) and the data directory that I've restored is also from the clients site so this should run...?

Re: TM1 Version is Incompatible
problem solved!
When I read the IBM article to verify client and server versions I just used the tm1s.exe file but I'm not running these instances as applications, they're running as services. To get better visibility into what process is spawned by what service we usually copy the std tm1sd.exe to say, tm1sd_ABC.exe for the instance ABC. Then when this instance's service starts we can see in the processes tab which instance it is...
I had a few of these tm1sd executables for running the various services and when I upgraded TM1 the new tm1sd.exe arrived in that folder but the service was still being run by the older (but not yet removed) tm1sd.exe so it was a different version... been scratching my head over this for hours but it dawned on me when I went to try a new instance from the client and went to create a new tm1sd executable and saw the different file sizes across the two versions of Tm1...
thanks for the posts!

Hi,
We used to do the tm1sd_abc thing too, but in 2008 R2 you can right-click on a process and select "go to service" and vica versa, so we don't need to anymore.
Just FYI
Cheers

FWIW, a complete uninstall of TM1 should also include removing EVERYTHING from the machine related to TtM1. I always delete all the folders left after an uninstall, as well as searching through the registry and removing every key that TM1 put there. I know it's a little anal but I've had situations like what happened to you and I just don't trust the uninstall routine to get rid of everything.JamiseBondi wrote:I did a complete uninstall and reinstall of TM1
