TM1 10.1.1
Exporting data out of a cube (right-click a view or cube ==> Export as text Data...) results in a message box when the process has finished.
Exporting elements out of a dimension (right-click a dimension ==> Export Dimension...) does not result in a message box when the process has finished.
Why the difference?
