Hi All, I'm a very very beginner in using TM1. Can you please explain to me what's the difference between using STET rules an using 0?

A zero rule derived cell is zero and cannot be overwritten without a change to the rule or conditions governing its execution. STET stops rules applying to a cell and allows a value to be typed or TI'd in. STET aalso uses less memory than a zero rule.

That's interesting about the memory consumption Declan, and kind of counter-intuitive. I'm interested to know if it is in all cases, and also how it was measured. Do you have examples you can share?

Duncan, I did a bit of testing on this a while ago and will try and dig out where it was I did it... currently I have about 25 different TM1 services on my laptop and I have a feeling that it actually exists on one of those on my harddrive at home.

From what I recall it wasn't always the case that STET took less memory than a zero but there were certainly a couple of conditions which caused it and I will try and find them.
As far as I can remember I have never come across a case where a rule'd zero takes less memory than STET.

I have had a brief look through some of my older services to find where I tested this but to no avail, I also tried to recreate the scenarios but it came up (as you outlined) with no difference between STET and =0.

I did at the time get a colleague to check the results as I was quite surprised and thought I may be going insane, said colleague confirmed the same outcome. However now that I can't recreate it and neither of us have details of exactly what we did I am certain that I am going insane!

So for the time being I will retract my comments and we should assume I was wrong
Should I have recollection of memory or notice similar results in the future I will post an update but until then it would appear I have just been imagining things.
