Installation stucks on Item 167

Recently, I have installed some machines for TM1 client 10.1. Most of them are fine except for two machines, one is win7 and another is XP. They all stuck at item 167. It looks like the progress is still moving but pretty slow. I know it is copying the DocLibrary files and by monitoring the copy speed, it is pretty pretty slow, e.g. 1K per sec?
I have turned off the virus scanning but still no luck.
Any idea?

Trust me, that's possible. Check that there is hard disk activity still happening (which you seem to have) but with 10.1 I've made it a rule of thumb that you should give it at least 2 hours before assuming that it really has hung, depending on the speed of the machine and any bottlenecks. Make sure that you have enough hard disk space, and cleaning out the %temp% directory ahead of the install isn't a bad idea either especially if the machine has been in use for a fair while without any housekeeping done on it. I'd also be inclined to shut down any or all other applications to make sure that you aren't getting multiple apps contending for disk writing.
Actually I'd be more surprised about the installs that are "fine", for certain values of fine.

Thanks for reply, Alan. I know you would reply this post.
Disk activities still happen at that time and also I have closed all other app including rebooting, checking space. I have kept them to run over night (maybe more nights?

), but still...
The installation packages are fine as I have installed many machines from there.

Happens to me every time with 10.1. You've just gotta wait it out, it does complete eventually. One of my machines took around an hour on that one item! God only knows what it's doing.

I had an issue installing it on my PC where it was stuck on Item 167 for quite a while so I just turned off the virus scanner, then it ran through quickly.
I also installed from scratch with the virus scanner turned off and it went through much quicker.
Obviously there are issues with whether you will be allowed to turn off your virus scanners in certain environments but if you can then it should help significantly.

Good tip. My own feeling is that the virus scanner is just looking through all of the unnecessary bloatware being bulk-dumped onto the HDD in the install, and slowing down the system while it stands there examining each file, scratching its head and muttering "WT
F????"

Your imagination is beautiful, I have to say, alan.
