Cannot start TM1 Application Server

I would like to use TM1 cubes with Cognos Insight, to do this I need to get the TM1 Application Server running. However, when I try to start it via IBM Cognos Configuration (as administrator), I get following error:

Generating cryptographic information: successful
Starting TM1 Application Server: failed, error message displayed:
Start]
[ ERROR ] errorlevel 1 exit 1
Installing the service "pmpsvc132137 20" ...
Using CATALINA_HOME: C:\Program Files\IBM\Cognos\TM1\tomcat

Failed to install the service "pmpsvc132137 20"

Starting the service "pmpsvc132146 37" ...

The service name is invalid.

More help is available by typing NET HELPMSG 2185.

So it looks as if the creation of the pmpsvc service using the batch file service_pmpsvc.bat does not work, but my knowledge of DOS is insufficient to debug the command file. I tried to run the batch file directly as admin, same result.

I have installed all TM1 elements using issetup.exe as Administrator without error messages. I was able to start the TM1 Excel service, TM1 Admin service and the samples, and they work properly using Architect.

When I rightclick in Cognos Configuration the TM1 Apllication server, I have following properties:
Maximum memory in MB: 768
Shutdown port nr: 9513
TM1 Application Server gateway URI: http://localhost:9510/pmpsvc
user name and password: ***********************
Namespace:

I am running TM1 10.1.1 64bit on a Windows 7 64bit laptop locally.

Anyone have a clue how I can get the Application server and the pmpsvc service (whatever it is) running ?

Regards,
Eddy

Problem solved. It was my IIS which caused all the problems. Reinstalled it and now it works.

Dear EddyR,

What did you reinstall? IIS? or TM1?

Sincerely,,

Hi,

i also couldn't start my TM1 application server.
Firstly I had the TM1 10.1 on my machine (win7 64 bit) and it run very well, then I want to upgrade to TM1 10.2
so I uninstall the TM1 10.1 and installed TM1 10.2 (as administrator), the installation is finish, but with an error message:

" The installation Wizard is complete.
All Selected components were transfered succesfully. Windows Configuration Tool terminated with warnings/errors. Please view "C:\ProgramFiles\ibm\cognos\tm1_64\instlog\isconfig-PLANANALYTICS-20131022_1502.log" for details. "

when I open the Cognos configuration, the TM1 admin server could start but for the TM1 application server, i get the same error like EddieR

i already reinstalled the TM1 ( after reinstalled IIS ), and now even back to TM1 10.1 again still error
Please help me....

Regards,
Lucey

Any updates?

I also can't get the TM1 Application Server back up.

Uninstall the whole 10.2, clean up all the installed folder and re-install works for me. Didn't have the time to find out the cause.

Try going to tm1_64\tomcat\work\catalina\localhost\ and then delete or rename the pmpsvc and pmhub folder.

Then go to Cognos Configuration and start the application server. Make sure you run as admin.

This should recreate all the Application server components and hopefully fix any issues.

You should also do this after installing FP1 on 10.2 as it seems to break the application in most cases.

I found the same error related to the user set in the Windows services.
Two possible reasons: the user doesn't have the rights needed or bad password.
