There could be other reason for this. Are there rules applied to any of the cells? Are you sure they entering at the lowest level? Oh and welcome to TM1. :)

Have you tried right clicking on the cell in a cube view and choosing "Edit Status"? That should tell you if there's a security issue, whether the cell is defined by rules... or whether they're trying to write to a consolidation, which is just as likely.

Well there you have your answer! If you are entering in the cube viewer then the colour of the cells also tells you if the cells are directly writable. White = data enterable, Grey = not data enterable (either consolidated, rule defined or no write access). If security write access is defined and the cell is just consolidated as opposed to rule defined then you can still enter data, you just need to use spreading as opposed to direct entry. for example try entering "p100" as opposed to just "100" and data will be entered.

The reason you can't enter directly in a consolidated cell is that data is stored in leaf cells and a consolidation is made up of multiple leaves. so where should the server put the data? If you use spreading you are explicitly telling the server to apportion the entry to all the underlying cells and then it works.

I know you're new to TM1 and therefore people have been prepared to answer the question. But this is pretty basic stuff and is covered in the end user documentation. To avoid using up your supply of goodwill it would be a god idea to read up on the documentation. It will also stand you in good stead if you have newly inherited responsibility for looking after a TM1 model. And also welcome to TM1.
