Cognos Insight with Windows Authentication

Post by paulsimon »

Hi

I have various users who are used to the benefits of Windows Authentication (Integrated Security Mode=2 (TM1 Authentication or Windows Authentication - selectable in TM1 Server Explorer by ticking or unticking Integrated Login).

In order to use Cognos Insight the TM1 Server needs to be running in Integrated Security Mode=1 (TM1 Authentication only), or in the two CAM Modes (4,5).

Mode 1 obviously won't give Windows Authentication.

Is there any way to configure CAM Security to use Windows Authentication, ie instead of being presented with a User Id and Password dialog box when they try to connect to TM1, they just get logged in under their Windows Id? I know that CAM can support custom authentication providers. Is there a simple way to configure this for Windows Authentication without having to resort to writing API code for the CAM?

The lack of Windows Authentication in Cognos Insight is a barrier to its adoption.

Regards

I couldn't agree more. Same goes for Contributor / TM1 Applications web interface. I have requested this as an enhancement but it received a very apathetic response.

Once you have hundreds of users used to integrated logon with Perspectives and TM1Web you just can't go backwards by requiring a user name and password, even if CAM is integrated with LDAP so it is the windows user name and password it is still way less seamless for the user and waaaaay more complicated on the technical side to set up and maintain versus simply the UniqueID field.

Thirded. I can't now imagine not having Windows authentication.

hmmm. Does it now work if you use CAM configured to use single sign on?
