We are in the process of upgrading to TM1 10.1 and we are noticing the installation of the new TM1 10.1.1 client takes a lot of time to complete. We just ran an install of just the TM1 Perspectives component on a Windows 7 64-bit machine, which took approximately 33 minutes to complete:

File Transfer Start Time: Thursday, December 13, 2012 12:00:40 PM
File Transfer End Time: Thursday, December 13, 2012 12:34:14 PM

The install is of the new client is taking about 25+ minutes longer that the TM1 9.1.4 client that we have been using. Just wondering what everyone else's experiences have been with the TM1 10.1 client? Would also be curious to know if anyone has found a way to optimize the 10.1 client install? Also, has anyone had any success deploying the new client via Microsoft's SCCM.

From the testing that I did I narrowed the speed issue down to Anti Virus software. I don't have the specific numbers but the install time for me when I disabled antivirus was much lower then when it was on.

I just installed 10.1 on a fresh laptop with Windows 7 and it took around an hour to complete.

It seemed to freeze on two particular items (187 and 188, I think).

I was not able to narrow down any likely causes, but it's very annoying.

I think it is down to the multinational help files. I did an install the other day and, just before I deleted all the languages that I am never going to use - so I can reclaim the GBs of disk space that these waste, I spotted that the directory creation times were about 6 minutes apart. 6 minutes by about 15 languages...
