9.1 SP2 Strange Log Message

Post by George Regateiro »

I have noticed the following line creep up in the logs. So far it has not caused any issues that I am aware of, but it seems pretty strange.

3468 INFO 2009-03-10 13:15:49,315 TM1.Server Client Response Timeout after 20 seconds, client = "€"

Any idea what could be causing this?

Would you have the following parameter in your tm1s.cfg file:

ReceiveProgressResponseTimeoutSecs =20;

This function descriptionsis the following:

The ReceiveProgressResponseTimeoutSecs parameter lets you configure your server to detect this situation and to sever the client connection, releasing the resources. When the parameter is set to a valid interval (in seconds) in the server's Tm1s.cfg file, the server process will terminate the client connection, releasing any resource locks, if the server does not detect the client application’s response within the specified interval.

Sorry I shoul dhave been a little more specific.

I know what the function is and I understand the log message, just not the user name that is appearing in the message. All our names are domain\username. I am perplexed as to why TM1 believes the user in the log was even logged in. There is no user remotely close to this name in the system.

If you are using some form of integrated log I suspect someone is getting kicked off but TM1 can't dispaly the user name properly. I certainly get the user name displayed in my system.

have you got logging of the }ClientProperties cube turned on? If not, enable it and the next time you see the message have a look through the transaction log for that cube. I know there is a bug with a >9.0 version where Cognos screwed up the ACTIVE flag for when users logged on, so this might not work. It should however show a user entry in the logs for that cube that will tie up to the user that was being kicked out (if any).
If this were a dictatorship, it would be a heck of a lot easier, just so long as I'm the dictator.
