TM1 cube through Cognos Analysis Studio - Using attributes?

We're using Cognos now to publish TM1 cubes and would like to use the element attributes of our customer dimension within Analysis studio. As an example, we have a dimension that has all of our customers listed. Those customers have an attribute that tells us what type they are (end user, wholesaler, distributor, etc). I'd love to have that cube published in Analysis Studio and be able to filter on just wholesalers as one example. Is that possible? The only other thing I could think of doing would be to create a separate hierarchy within the dimension that lists the customer type as the highest level so we could look that way. I really want to avoid doing that if possible. Any tips?
