Express Xcelerator Distribution List

Post by Mems »

Hey All,

I have set up a distribution list in Express Manager with the goal of sending out cross tab reports to employees.

I can't seem to find a way to send a mail through Xcelerator Web.
Is there something I am missing? I have tried the searching on the documentation and Google but can't seem to find anything.

Is this possible? (Client is only using Xcelerator)

Regards,
MEMS

I'm guessing Lotsaram will take you through how to do this with VBA :) , but it's not supported by the base product. Who told you it was?

David,

I just took it for granted, that having the functionality of a distribution list, it would obviously be part of the whole Express package... (Rookie mistake)

Now it makes sense why I couldn't find it in the documentation. :)

Think about it for a little bit and you'll understand why it's probably not very high on their priority list to add such a feature. What you are basically wanting is a way to create reports and distribute them to people that don't have a user license to view the reports natively in TM1. ;) If you want to do this you're best bet is to do something with VBA. Do a quick search on this forum as there are several example.

That. And the fact that they want to upsell Cognos BI that offers things like report bursting and e-mailing.

Do we know that bursting and emailing are not supported by CX Reporter?

In fact I thought report distribution was included in the Reporter module.

So to wrap up...

The distribution list is only applicable for CX Reporter and only for CX users?
Think about it for a little bit and you'll understand why it's probably not very high on their priority list to add such a feature
Then why put it in on the Manager page and not just in CX reporter... Sigh...

Thanks for all the replies
