Anyone using Microstrategy on top of TM1?

Post by garry cook »

Just wondering if anyone has given this more than a cursory look and if so, what the general opinion of it was.

TIA

I have heard anecdotally that it works as an excellent reporting solution on top of TM1. I cant really say much more than that ... but its definitely worth trying especially if you have mobile/tablet reporting requirements. Interested to hear if anyone has first hand experience of this.

I have implemented this architecture. Client had already invested in Microstrategy, and we're sold on tm1 adapatablity. The two products don't play well together, despite what Microstrategy will have you believe. It connects via a layer on top of the antequated Oledb provider. Also, the clients reporting requirements meant that the report needed to pull through all base level cube data, so any element could be filtered upon in the drop down boxes. All of this meant that the performance was very poor. A cube view which took < 10 seconds took up to 3 minutes. Most of this time was spent with Microstrategy disseminating the mdx query results. The mdx query was not able to be modified by the developer.
