TM1 SandBoxes Approving commits?

Hi Guys,

We are wanting to create a process where a GBU head is able to enter a project budget and allocate portions of the budgetted costs out to the appropriate departments (GSF's). We would then like the individual department heads to look at those figures and propose changes to those budget figures which can then be reviewed and committed back to the main base dataset. My thoughts are that we could use Sandboxes as follows:

1. GBU Head creates cost budget at the project level and assigns the costs out to the relevant departments where costs are expected to occur
2. Department Head creates sandbox based on the base dataset and then reviews figures and if appropriate propose alternative figures.
3. GBU Head is somehow in a position to review all proposed changes and commit any new figures that seem appropriate

Does this sound possible or do I need to consider an alternative approach.

Keep in mind that we are currently on TM1 9.4, however I do plan to upgrade to 9.5.1 in which case I should be able to start using sandboxes.

Any thoughts/ideas would be highly appreciated.

Thanks,
Damien

First big problem - sandboxes are private. You can't share data between people.

Personally I'd use a dimension called "Versions" and use TI to deal with the approvals.

Sandboxes are not, and never were intended to act as, a workflow vehicle. They are simply a way for users to try out their changes to a model before officially committing them.

Thanks Martin... In that case I will try the version dimension concept. Thanks..
