Odd Behaviours in 9.5.2 Client

I normally live in Perspectives, but has anyone else noticed these in Client? I'm not sure whether it's my machine or not. They're no big deal, just odd and potentially a little confusing to newbies.

- The splash screen that loads still shows the Perspectives logo, not Client. (That's less of a problem; most users wouldn't know the difference.)
- If you load it in Excel 2003, you'll have the client menus. That is, no Developer menu items like Dimension or Rules Worksheet open.
- But if you load it in Excel 2010, you'll still get the Developer group on the ribbon tab with the option to work with .xdis and .xrus. (And may I add that Excel 2010 seems to play nicer with earlier versions than 2007 did.)
- In both cases Server Explorer will show "Client" at the top, and you'll only get Client items when you right click the server.
- However if you select Help -> About Client in Server Explorer your entire screen goes blank, which I imagine would startle the horses just a little bit. Thankfully as with most splash screens, if you click anywhere on it (which is actually anywhere on your screren) it goes away.

More curious than anything else.

I haven't noticed the issues you listed as we are on Exel 2007 and haven't worked with any other versions yet.

But I have another issue to add to the list. The 9.5.2 Client has a performance issue with Cube Viewer that was not present in 9.5.1. The first time you open a cube view and try to scroll you will get an hour glass for each time you scroll untill you have scrolled through the entire length of the scroll bar. Once you have done this the performance issue is gone. Unfortunately it comes back each time you open a cube view.

It's only an issue if you are using perspectives at any kind of distance from the server. Our Citrix Client has the issue but it is so close to the server you don't notice the difference.

I logged a bug with IBM and there was an APAR logged with development.

It sounds like the data in the view is buffering; it would explain why it's only happening the first time you scroll with any given view. I'm not sure that there will be a fix for that aside from "fix the WAN performance" which has come up a couple of times in the "things to discuss with the develpment team" thread.

It is buffering; its crap but we are having to live with it.

Alan, your issues i think are related to your PC - i'm using 9.5.2 on XL2003 and don't get any of the issues you are having...

The only reason Im hoping they might fix it sooner rather than later is that we did not have this issue on 9.5.1 but Im not holding my breath.
