Does anyone know why support for the TM1 Http Connector has been discontinued as of TM1 9.4? I thought it was a very promising piece of technology which could have many uses for TM1 deployment.

Did anyone have any experience with the http connector, positive or negative? There seems to be no reference to it on these boards at all...

Just curious, as I was about to research utilising it in my current deployment.

I wasn't aware that it had been discontinued. Pity.

You might be interested to know that Palo does have an http connector built in - I've used it to view someone's model in action from UK to Holland and it worked as though we were in the same building. Very easy to set up, but unlike say TM1web you do have to have some software installed on your machine. Given that Palo is free this does not present any major issues unless you REALLY need to connect to your model from an internet cafe in Shanghai.

I'd like everyone to know what's there and give it a go.

PALO needs to get some critical mass to be accepted as the idea of free OLAP is a bit off the wall and scary to many companies.

What's not to get excited about?

Basically the HTTP was stopped being improved when TM1 Wed came along and at the moment it was a matter of time before it was axed.

Sidenote..... I really need to make time to play with Palo

I believe that's the special service release of TM1 that only works on Wednesdays.

The HTTP connector and TM1Web satisfy very different functionality needs, in my opinion. TM1web is great for deploying reports to a wide, scattered audience. However, it falls down when used for input template delivery. The lack of VBA support and support for cut and paste limits it severely in data collection.

The HTTP connector is the best of both world, assuming performance is adequate, as it supports the full client functionality.

Just my two cents, but I wish we could get it back. I might have to look at building one myself.

i can't imagine that there is one environment in the world where it makes sense to use the http connector.

he makes tm1 access through wan slower than it already is, slow enough to make it useless in my opinion.

i think there are always better alternatives.
