Refreshing Server Explorer - display on/off

Hello,
I found something I do not like, maybe some of you experienced it before and maybe even you have some explanation/workaround for this?
When I log in as a non-admin user i can see cubes and dimensions (left part of the picture), but when I press F5 in the SE (refresh), I do not see them (right part of the picture). Pressing F5 once again brings me back to "see" and so on...
I have CubeSecurity done by rules (user is not supposed to see all the cubes) and I have no DimensionSecurity (all users are supposed to see all dimensions). When I am on the left picture moment, everything is fine according to my security settings.
I am sure this user is assigned only to one group (which is not important I think, but just in case you'll find it useful).
IntegratedSecurityMode=4
Client: 9.5.1 HF17, Windows XP
Server: 9.5.1 (don't know HFs), AIX
Most surprising for me is the Dimension case.

I'm guessing you already know that you need to refresh security every time you change rules.
I can only guess that this a result of the security rules as I've never seen this before. If you remove the rules does it continue? Does it do it straight after the server restart?
Not really an answer I know. I'm curious myself as I've hit issues with rule based security before, just not this issue,
Jim.

Thanks for a fast response

Yes, I tried to write everything and forgot about this one. It all happens after I first refresh security as an admin and then nothing else changes (just the F5 gets being hit).

This is a server I am not able to bounce by myself, so I'll need to wait for this (maybe even till Monday).

Maybe the reason is rules, but as I wrote I am surprised Dimensions (that have no defined security at all) behave the same way as Cubes. If I would like to remove rule-based security I would have to do it on Cubes and also on Applications, Processes, elements of some Dimensions and one CellSecurityCube - too much for a fast check with no access to server.

I agree the dimensions shouldn't change. I'm only guessing that the security rules are having an impact on security full stop and the way it refreshes. It's only a shot in the ark mind. Even if it is this, for it shouldn't happen regardless.

I just wanted to let you know that problem does not exist anymore.
I first changed security on applications, cubes and processes to manual (not rule defined) as I decided to do it anyway this way. Problem still existed.
Then today I got my server restarted and my problem disappeared. I think there is a huge chance it would also disappear on rule defined security, but in this particular case I did not test it :-/

Hi there
I faced the same problem today with the model I am currently working on.
Very simple, 5 cubes (of which 2 lookup cubes).
Then I added security on a manual basis, no rules at all.
Refreshing the screen gave the same behavior as above.
Luckily I used Google or I thought I'd be crazy.
Also luckily, server restart solves this issue.
