Contributor Approval Hierarchy 9.5.2

I am trying to create my first application in Contributor and having an issue assigning a valid subset.

Overall structure is:

Total (cons element)
Admin (cons element)
Dept 1
Dept 2
Dept 3
Devel (cons element)
Dept 4
Dept 5
Dept 6

I have tried to associate with Admin and Devel levels (consolidated), I get:
ERROR - The hierarchy includes consolidated members but excludes their children.

If I try to load the subset:
Devel (cons element)
Dept 4
Dept 5
Dept 6
ERROR - The hierarchy has more than one top level member.

If you try and just load the n elements:
ERROR - The hierarchy has more than one top level member.

Can anyone shed some light where I am going wrong?

OK I have resolved. I had to create unique consolidated element not associated under any other parent. When saving it stated associated security will be lost. Is there anyway to create the approval hierarchy under the current dimension structures without having to update security?

Yes, with Contributor your approval hierarchy must have one, clean hierarchy. No multiple parents.

No, you cannot retain TM1 security in the dimension of your approval hierarchy. Contributor over-rides the security on this dimension. All the other dimensions have TM1 security applied to them though.

Martin, thank you for the confirmation. We are 'under way', so far so good.
