Excel Service is stopping

I have been pounding away building things in TM1 (9.5.2) for about 6 weeks now, and I have never seen this before now.
It has stopped my development and roll-out in its tracks.

All of the Excel based applications on the WebServer stop responding, including my homepage, which means nobody can get into the browser.
After I disable the homepage, the browser works for all views, but none of the excel applications. In Perspectives, there is no problem at all.

Seems the webservice is stopping. I have had it restarted a few times, but it doesn't stay running for long.

Any idea what could be causing this?

Look on the web server and make sure the TM1 Excel Service (this is the service that renders Excel sheets on the Web) is running. If not, start it.

I found my problem a while ago, but haven't had a chance to report back here until now.

One of my Excel applications would cause the Excel service to stop on the server. The Excel service could be restarted, but the next time this app was opened it would bring it down again.
I discovered the problem quite by accident. I was moving this app to another server. I opened it off my prod server, made a change to the pointer to tell it to use the other server, but when I tried to save it, I got an excel message saying I don't have enough memory to perform the operation to remove private data.

I had earlier checked the Option box under the security tab to "Remove private data" to remove my name from the comment boxes. Unchecking this option cuased my problem to go away.

Weird, huh?

(I now have a new similar looking problem that is causing the TM1 service to stop. Haven't figured that out yet. Problems like this don't fail nicely. Having it stop without explanation is rather ticking me off. :x )
