Server Explorer Bug: One User Affected Only

In 7+ years of using TM1 i have never come across an issue like this. I'm finding it hard to understand why it happens and as a result impossible to cure.
The issue is a slightly corrupted server explorer, specifically the application folders. Below are a before & after screen shot; On first logging in, the user's screen looks fine. Each icon correctly represents the item it is linked to.
On clicking the parent folder, the list is changed. The icons no longer match and as a result clicking on the items does nothing. User can not even right click an item and in some cases it states the item has gone and do you want to delete it.
It is not linked to the user's TM1 account. They can log on to TM1 via my machine and it works as it should.
It is not linked to the folders themselves as only one user has been affected.
It is not linked to their PC because i can log on and it works as it should.
If they log on to another PC they get the same issue.
By that elimination it must either be a windows security issue or a windows profile issue on this one user. IT have attempted to reset the profile but i'm not convinced that was done as fully as it could. My question is has anyone seen behaviour like this before or know what causes it / how to fix it?
