TM1 9.4 64 bit

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone has moved to TM1 9.4 64 bit and has any good\bad experience with it.

We have moved to 64bit and using 9.0SP3 but we are thinking of going to 9.4 in the new year. Looks quite good from what we saw at Cognos Roadshow. BTW: Did anyone who was also there get distracted by the blonde lady handing out Cognos goodies?
No?...neither did I then...

Anyway, I did install and loaded our data on the 9.4 server. Got a slight shock as our curent system (9.0SP3) loaded at 4.5GB, TM1 9.4 loaded at a whopping 9GB! and I thought TM1 9.1 was bad for memory usage.

I am hoping to do some stress testing in the new year, so any information\opinion would be very much appreciated.
Cheers,

Ken

Hi Ken good to see you've not stopped being wonderfully inappropriate! I believe there's the odd female that comes in here too!

Not sure 9.4 is ready for stress testing, we couldn’t even get our production server to come up.... There's a couple of threads on 9.4

Ken....
Your numbers for startup size make me think you _might_ be comparing 32 and 64 bit. Is that possible?

9.4 MR1 is out very soon. We have a client which has to go 9.4 as they have moved to XL2007. MR1 fixes a couple of issues they hit.

But....

Unless you _have_ to have 9.4, I would say 9.0SP3U9 or thereabouts is your best bet. Tell the Aussies (yours that is, just in case Alan K takes umbrage) that it was their idea to go 9.1 and it's not a good version - and I can't see (yet) that 9.4 has nailed all the issues.

I apologise if I offended any ladies out there, but this one had a fantastic smile :)

Thanks for that chaps.
The comparison is entire based on 64 bit. Once I got the live 64 bit box working, I put the same version (9.0 SP3) on the Dev box. Both servers loaded at approx 4.5GB, which was expected as our 32 bit server loaded at 2.2GB.
I then removed 9.0SP3 from Dev box and put 9.4 some release on the box and loaded the data. 9.4 server loaded at 9GB. Luckily we decided to put 32GB Ram into the boxes instead of 16GB!

I since had to put the Dev back to 9.0 SP3 as a backup for 1/2 year coming up. Which is a shame as I would like to have seen the 'stats by cube' numbers but did not remember at the time. I bet you it's those allocation feeders you put in David ;)
I think our aussie compatriots are waiting for us to jump (plunge\stumble) to 9.4 before they do.

Cheers,
Ken

PS: Any plans to get together for a drink (1/2 for me) from Coheris this Xmas?

It'll be the current month to YTD feeders in the SAP interface - they are pretty hard to manage down.
Your memory pressure will be text data going to Unicode.
See you (and Shami) at the Dickens for Martin F's birthday drinkies.
