DBS Key_err

Post by LeeTaylor1979 »

Hi,

One of my users is trying to do a DBS to a cube but getting key_err.

I have opened the file myself and get the same thing.

If I look at one line of the file and create a view in the cube I get a white cell and can input.

The infocat TM1 toolbox does not indicate any problems and I have checked the element security.

Has anyone got any Ideas please ?

Thanks

Lee

Have you changed your cube structure? Have you removed anything from the excel sheet? The thing I always do is press F2 on one of the cells and all it's cell references are displayed. Make sure they all map back to valid elements for each of the dimensions in the right order. It's very easy for a user to accidently remove something without knowing what it does,

Jim.

PS. You might also want to check to see if the excel sheet itself is corrupt.

Hi Jim,

Thanks for your quick response.

I have re typed the formula myself and also used the DBS wizard but to no avail.

All the elements on the file are fine and at the lowest level

All signs point to a corrupt file as even myself as admin are unable to do a DBS, just wanted the TM1 guru's view first.

I think I will ask the user to start again and see if that helps.

Many thanks again.

The first thing I would check is whether you could manually put the data in the cube.

I.e. if you are trying to send string values you need the dbss formula rather than dbs.

Are any of the element names in the DBS being picked up from cells which contain a DBRW formula? If so, change the DBRW formula to a DBR one.

Do some of your DBS references refer to attributes (Aliases) ?
DO the DBS Formula changed to a DBRW show the correct values ? or KEY_Error as well ?

If yes, (and you have check that no reference is a dbrw as Alan said...)
you could try to change all the DBS references to the element names ( instead of the aliases).

I am thinking about the good old attribute corruption issue.

To fix the attributes corruption, re upload you xdi file to force the re-synchronisation elements to aliases.

Hope this helps,
HTH

No Unfortunately there are no Attributes/Aliass in the element being selected nor are any of them DBRW formulas.

The file was created by a pivot table but the info was moved to a different sheet, therefore the DBS is not referencing the pivot.

The copy from the pivot was doe using paste special value.

To answer a previous question from Jeroen, I have created a view in the cube with the elements of the first line of data on the file and i do get a white cell that i am able to input into.

I think I will just have to ask the user to download the info again redo the pivot and see if that works.

Thanks for all your help.
