All users lost access to database after copy

Post by radlebb »

Here's a fun one.

Client requested to copy (overwrite) a database folder from a prod server to a test server. This broke server explorer, i.e. the database wouldn't appear. This was seemingly a simple fix, I edited the tm1s.cfg and changed the AdminHost to the new server, then restarted the matching TM1 Server service. The database then showed up in server explorer. Then the fun started.

Double clicking on the database name to log in pops up the prompt but any attempt to log in rejects the user saying "Client name does not exist on the server." The users that were trying to log in do have credentials on the prod server and did have on the test server before the copy. The Admin account doesn't get rejected but they don't know the password. Woo.

Does anyone know what has happened or how to fix it? We do have a copy of the server from a week ago (and it is just a test box) so a full restore is the backout plan.

Cheers

Fixed this by doing the copy again but making sure the tm1s.cfg AdminHost was set correctly before the TM1 Server service was started. I think something got messed up when it still pointed at the previous server when it started the first time.
