Rules Editor is VERY Slow and Unresponsive

Hello everyone,

I'm trying to work on the rules for a cube in the advanced rules editor (TM1 9.5.1) but it is extremely slow. As in I can't even use the scroll wheel to move up and down due to freezing. Using the cursor keys just results in delayed and erratic behavior. The title bar will generally be "grayed out", but in looking at my task manager I can see that I have more than enough resources to take care of this. Generally the only remedy to get any response is to kill the rules editor and open Architect again.

The rule does seem to work fine for the first few seconds upon opening though, then it begins to lag. Also, I have noticed that in smaller rule files I have the same issue. Would regions or something else cause this?

I'm using XP 32 bit on my Laptop, but honestly I'm not sure what bit the server is.

Thanks, and I appreciate the help.

Are you remote connecting to the server and then looking at the rules or are you just opening up the rules editor from your client.

Also, are you using the advanced rules editor. I have seem performance issues when using this and generally stick with the basic editor.

I'm doing this from an instance of Architect that is installed on my machine. I am using the advanced rules editor, only because that was suggested by our consultants (although I'm not entirely sure why, I just complied when they suggested it).

I would try with the basic rules editor and see if you still experience the issue.

You can update the setting in the tm1p.ini file on your machine.
AdvancedRulesEditor=F

Thanks for the suggestion. I wen't ahead and changed that file, but honestly the rule editor looks the exact same. Will that require a reboot?

Also, another idea just came to mind. Could it be freezing due to an overly aggressive autosave timing? That may explain why I can get in for 15 seconds or so before it freezes.

It should require a restart of the client.

The auto-save could definitely be the cause, although I thought that it was set in minutes. You can try to extend the time.

What happens if you click on the scroll bar and drag it up or down? Is it fast then? I don't use the advanced editor much, but have generally found the scroll wheel takes a long time and the only option is to drag the scroll bar. (I think using page up and page down works too).

The scroll bar doesn't seem to be much better. Although, if I click on the red X in the upper right hand corner the window will close within a few seconds (which seems odd to me).

The advanced rules editor doesn't work properly.
