Hey all, bit of a strange one this.

Playing about with 9.1's rule editor over Citrix and came across an unusual and incredibly annoying bug. The editor seems to convert a "£" symbol into a "?" symbol. I can't get it to put a £ symbol into the editor however I try - copy / paste from notepad, etc.

Only way of getting round it I can see is to call the CHAR function but this seems ridiculous.

Given I've not played with 9.1's rule editor much yet and can't find any ref to it on a search, I'm trying to pin this down to a TM1 or Citrix issue and wondered if anyone had come across this?

I encountered this one. You have to revert your rules editor back to the basic editor. It's a known bug with the editor.

I think this is a "feature" not a bug since the "Advanced" rules editor does not support the extended character set including £ sign.

Along with other iritations this is why we don't really use it and I think IBM Cognos have come to a similar conclusion since it is disabled by default in currrent installation of versions 9.4 and 9.5 ( not sure about 9.1)

This is a shame because it has some nice layout and colouring features.

Ah well, thanks for confirming. Guess it's back to notepad sytle rules then as I can't be bothered calling CHAR functions everywhere.

Apologies, I forgot that TM1 is the most feature rich bit of kit out there!!

I'm curious , why would you need '£' in a rule?

The same reason you would need any other character, if you used it in either the name of a cube, dimension, dimension element, or attribute.

You could do this with a consolidation instead of a rule - weight the £000 with 0.001. If this rule is the only mention of £ then this might allow you to go back to the shiny editor.

I'm glad your happy for us as we are happy for us as well. There is nothing better than watching Ricky Ponting squirm on telly.

If you believe that then clearly, you've never seen Belinda Snell sink a three point throw when a great deal of lunging and stretching was involved.

Who is Belinda Snell??? Should I google her in work or wait until I get home??

Impostor-tastic! I didn't write that (indeed, the problem I'm dealing with isn't even mine and refers to an element name with £ in it rather than GBP - yuck), Jim's signed off as Martin and my account had exceeded no of logon attempts when I went to reply to this forum when I've had no sign on issues recently

I'm suspicious...

Something a bit more prosaic, I'm afraid; the Moderator log shows that Martin inadvertently edited your post. I'd guess that he hit the [Edit] button when he meant to hit the Quote button. (This is the down side to the "one ring" that is Admin rights; I've done the same thing myself in the past, then muttered and swore as I reconstructed the original post from the e-mail copies.)

I smell cookies! Specifically, I've been having that a bit myself recently but I know why it is; I recently had to log into the Forum on a "foreign" computer so I changed my password afterwards. The cookies on my own computers kept trying to log me in with the old password. The notebook just did it when I went to log into the Administrator Control Panel (for which it apparently keeps a separate login record). Might be time to do a cookie purge on your browser if the password doesn't "stick".

She's hot! Athletic, tall, long, dark hair, did I mention athletic? The only downside is that she doesn't like flying. Hey, I like what I like!

(Although it may be politic to mention that rather shorter with long dark hair is working for me at the moment. I'm not as unconcerned as Jim is about whether my posts are looked up by significant others. )
