Client ID set-up: Max Connections

Hi all,

I read the Op Guide on Max Connections. I notice in 9.5, when a new Client ID is created, it is no longer defaulted to 65xxx like in 9.4.1. Instead, it is default to 0.

I still do not understand what Max Connections mean. Since it is defaulted to 0. does this mean that the Client ID can have unlimited connections to TM1? What constitutes to a connection? One datapoint? One TI process?

Please advice. Many thanks!

1 Client Connection = 1 log in to the server. So if it is set to 1, that account is only allowed to have 1 simultanious connection. It stops accounts being abused or shared between multiple people.

Zero means unlimited, as it standard in most software these days.

if you take a look on tm1top there you see
admin --
user1
user1
user2
user1

so admin is connected once.. user1 3 times and user 2 one time

if you want to restrict the users you should allow them at least 3 connections at the same time (tm1web+client+?)

direct in the "tm1servermanager" you only can see which users are connected at all.
