Good Visio template for TM1?

Post by Martin Ryan »

Has anyone found a really good template for designing TM1 models in Visio? I've been sticking with the basics and it looks ok, but I'm sure it could look better. The cubes always look pretty ordinary.

Screw Visio - use crayons and lining paper, works for me...

But if you're going to transfer the end result of your crayon doodle onto Visio, I've never had a problem with the basic shapes tbh. Managed a half decent looking data flow diagram with 96 interlinked cubes on it but the real issue I have is showing the flow of data effectively when on that scale (ie showing which way the arrows are pointing). Usually have to use Octangles for numeric cubes and rectangles for string to get a decent number of connection points otherwise it gets very busy on the joints.

If there is a good template, I'd be happy to hear about it but having gone through most of the templates at some point in the past, I've yet to find one that really does any better job than the basic shapes.
